Welcome to Adelaide!

SAN CHURRO

It's official, San Churro has arrived in Adelaide and it has created quite the stir!

Think trendy dessert bar, opening it's doors mid Fringe on the most popular corner of Adelaide during the festival... Mayhem!

After waiting 30 minutes to be seated (we didn't mind, it was desperation that pulled us through) we were welcomed by warm staff and handed a menu that I can only describe as incredible...

I am one for chocolate. There's no denying that I have a full blown addiction.  I worked in a dessert bar for two years and lost 3kgs in the fortnight after leaving... I just couldn't help myself! So you'll forgive me if my review is a little biased; blame my overpowering sweet tooth.

My boyfriend and I debated calmly (read: argued passionately) about what to order and whether to share.  We decided on the Fondue for Two, Mocha Mambo Shake for him and a (life doesn't get any better than this) Peanut Butter Melt hot chocolate for me.  We ate embarrassingly fast and rolled ourselves out the door with alarming speed.  If you've been there already you would know how it feels.  To start with the Fondue. The couverture chocolate is to die for and the things to dip were freshly prepared and presently nicely.  The ultimate however was the Peanut Butter Melt... Wow. I am a sucker for anything salty and sweet so this rocked my world.  Not to mention how cute it was!

My advice; get yourself there immediately.  And before you go, drool over the menu here...

You can thank me later, X

Little Miss Mexico

MUCHAS GRACIAS AMIGOS!

Little Miss Mex is here to stay.

Photo care of UrbanSpoon

The eclectic pop-up bar (as if a pop-up bar can be anything but eclectic...) Little Miss Mexico has announced that their temporary liquor licence has been extended. Let the fiesta continue!

Home to carafes of Sangria, delicious tacos, nachos, refried beans, mason jars of margaritas and general mexican party times; Little Miss Mexico was the place to be seen over the Fringe.

Thanks to the good people at the Liquor Licensing Commission we can now get silly for a while longer!

If you're not so keen on lining up until you pass out then pick a weekday lunch.  But if you are more inclined to party until the early hours then pop on your comfiest high heels and make your way to Adelaide's own slice of Mexico.

Check out the daily specials HERE!

Arriba! X

A little sugar for my honey...

SWEET TOOTH.

Did someone say chocolate donuts? Just me? Okay...

Photo care of FourSquare user.

Well I'm going to talk about it anyway!

The House Cafe Bakery at Grange has the BEST, I repeat BEST, chocolate donuts in Adelaide... Incredible.  Do yourself a favour and make your way down to the beach for a sweet treat. You can thank me later.

My aim for tomorrow... Devour one.

A little sweetness for my hump day X

Is it getting hot in here?

HEAT WAVE.

When it comes to weather, Adelaide has it all. And today it has decided to turn up the heat and reach a scorching 39 degrees Celsius...

Which makes catching the bus to University particularly hideous.

As a slight digression; Adelaide has finally caught up with contact-less ticketing system and boy are they proud (Similar to the pride they felt upon building the only one-way expressway in the world that is closed for four hours in a day...)! Only years behind the rest of the world...  But I must not be quick to scold poor little Adelaide! And I must get back on track...

Hot days in Adelaide are spent pool side or by the beach with a refreshing beer or cider.  Yes, we do live up to our stereotypes here in Adelaide; we do not like to disappoint. Today I had the pleasure of enjoying Henley Beach in the early hours of the morning as the temperature was a mere unbearable.  It was a struggle to get out of bed this morning but the fresh sea air was so much more satisfying than the cool breeze of the air-con.  So today make an effort get out of the house, slap on the sunscreen and explore whatever part of the world you call home.

Stay cool Adelaide... X

The Adelaide Fringe Festival

THE FRINGE.

Photo care of the Adelaide Fringe.

Summer rolls past in Adelaide; warm, relaxed and carefree... Then, come Febuaray, the city of Adelaide is rumbling with the energy and excitement that is the Adelaide Fringe Festival.  For those unfamiliar; it's Adelaide's claim to fame.  The month long arts festival is home to over 4000 artists and 900 shows waiting to thrill and excite the willing audiences.

The Fringe explodes in Adelaide and with it comes a sense of togetherness and positive energy.  The streets are filled with people until the early hours of every morning and the East-end of the city is alive and buzzing.

It is, by far, my favourite time of the year.  The colours, the sights, and the smells... Adelaide comes alive with an eccentric liveliness that is hard to describe. It's addictive.

Warm nights spent at the Garden of Unearthly Delights with friends, giggles at late-night comedy shows, food vendors on street corners, oversized fairy floss, and cringes at an unexpected strip dance... The Fringe has it all.

In town from the 15th February-17 March;  it's time to admit that my favourite time of the year is almost over.

Until 2014; thank you Adelaide Fringe Festival. X

And in the beginning...

ADELAIDE.

If you are not from Adelaide, it's likely that you are not entirely confident in what on earth I'm talking about.  If you do know, we probably know each other.  Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, Australia. And in my humble opinion, it's beautiful.

In 2013 I have promised myself to do as much, and see as much, of Adelaide as I humanly can.  If you want to come along for the ride, follow this blog. I'll love you for it! I hope to write about whatever little tidbits pop into my mind from day to day and to take you on an adventure to discover the hidden (and not so hidden) secrets of this humble little city.  And if no one else sees this... Well... I'll have one hell of a journal.

Wish me luck. X
